Fractora Frequently Asked Questions
Before During After Care
Should I prepare myself and/or my skin prior to a treatment?
Like all laser treatments, it is especially important to come to the office without any type of sun/windburn. The face should be free of any make-up. You should drink a lot of water prior to treatment and afterwards as it is critical to keep the skin hydrated post-treatment and drinking water will assist. The skin will be re-cleaned prior to treatment at the clinic.
What Areas can be Treated?
Fractora can be used in areas that can benefit from skin renewal. The most commonly treated areas include the lower eyelid, upper eyelid, smile lines, forehead, cheeks, mouth and neck. Face and body areas that exhibit wrinkles, discolouration or acne scarring are suitable for treatment.
How many treatments will I need?
Depending on your Fractora treatment regime you can expect to have between 1-6 sessions.
What will I feel during the Procedure?
Generally, the resurfacing procedure requires two (2) passes. The initial pass is typically tolerable, however; with each additional pass, the HEAT affiliated with the treatment may become more intense. For many, there are specific areas on the face that tend to be more sensitive such as the upper lip, around the ear region (especially in women), and any region on the face that tends to be dry.
What is used to minimize the discomfort associated with the treatment?
Prior to treatment, you will have a topical anaesthetic (numbing cream) applied to the areas which will be treated. During treatment, a cooling device that gently blows cool air over the area to be treated, may or may not be used. It assists in lowering the temperature of the skin which in turn makes the treatment more comfortable.
How quickly will I see results?
Visible results can be seen immediately, but typically after two weeks, the most noticeable results appear. Improvements continue up to three months after treatment.
What is the Benefit of Fractionated Energy?
Fractionated RF energy found in Fractora is a scientifically proven method that reduces wrinkles. It is minimally invasive, using a matrix of micro-pins to resurface and restore the skin, providing exceptional results with almost no patient downtime.
What is the Benefit of RF Energy?
RF energy heats the deep layers of the skin in a controlled way to revitalize the collagen. Fractora treatment will improve skin complexion and texture for a more radiant and youthful appearance. “
What will I feel and look like after the procedure?
The treated skin will feel very tight and appear red. For many the skin feels tender, however, this differs with each person. At the end of the treatment, a hydrating ointment will be applied gently to the skin.
When can I put make-up on After Treatment?
Since patient downtime is minimal, makeup can be applied 1 to 2 days after the treatment. Patients should expect to see micro lesions a few days after treatment and slight redness for up to 1 week depending on treatment parameters.
What kind of Post Procedure Care is Required?
Patients should moisturize the treatment area and avoid direct sun exposure. It is also recommended that patients use a good, broad-spectrum sunscreen every day. In addition to reducing their future risk of skin cancer, sunscreens also reduce wrinkles and slow the aging process.
How much downtime is expected?
It is important to note that everyone responds differently to laser treatments, thus downtime will differ from one individual to another.
